1) DOE RUN CONTINUES TO MAKE PROBLEMS

And the North American business, Doe Run, sticks it to you again. It has not complied with the PAMA (Sustainability and Environmental Program) since the year 2004 when the government awarded them their first extension and in 2006 when given another generous extension that was to conclude this coming October.

Residents of La Oroya and the Junin region handed over nine thousand letters regarding health, decent work, and the environment.

Monsignor Pedro Barreto led delivery of letters to the Governmental Palace. In an historic event, 30 representatives of La Oroya and the Junin region presented 9,548 letters to President Dr. Alan García Pérez demanding respect for the dignity, life, and health of its population.

DESPITE POSITIVE AGREEMENT BEFORE THE FINANCIAL CRISIS HIT DOE RUN, MAJOR PROBLEMS HAVE YET TO BE SOLVED IN LA OROYA.

1. We consider it proper the way in which we are facing the economic and financial crisis of Doe Run Peru. This result was made possible mainly by the vigilance, pressuring and suggestions carried out by organizations, experts from civil society, and media.

We recently took our first trip out of the United States to Peru. Not long ago, we had heard
about the Andean town of La Oroya where most children live poisoned by lead and we wanted

Civil Construction workers let go from Doe Run Peru protested for the 5th day in a row in La Oroya.

The 60 workers who were recently let go protested in front of Doe Run demanding there reinstatement according to Raúl Rojas of the Civil Construction Union.
